Abbey Falls

Abby falls roars down from a height of about 70 feet amidst a private coffee estate about 8 kms from Madikeri. A footpath of about 300 mts exists in between the coffee estate to reach the falls. A hanging bridge has been constructed across the lee end of the falls. One can stand on the hanging bridge and can get nice photographs clicked. The spray of the dense falling water forms a kind of rising fog and blows across the hanging bridge. During the monsoon seasons the water flow is dense and very high, whereas the water flow is considerably less during the dry seasons. There are some mini falls just before the main falls which are not visual from down below.

You must visit this place even if it is off season. The drive to this place is fantastic. It is dangerous to enter the water even if it looks calm. Do not make any effort to enter the water which is right below the main falls. Many incidents of drowning to death have occurred in the recent past. Paid parking space available near the entrance.

Best Time to Visit

Try and visit this place during monsoons (end June, July, August, September, October November) to view dense water falls. Rest of the period the water falls density reduces as the summer progresses. You can visit this place during any time of the day between 9 AM to 4:30 PM.
